The Hartford, VT Police Department have announced a sobriety check for the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving.
According to the PD, a popular trend on this night is “Blackout Wednesday” wherein people get inebriated on the night before Thanksgiving. This leads to a rise in the number of drunk driving accidents on, and around, the holiday. To counteract this, officers will set up a sobriety checkpoint within the town. They will also be conducting a saturation patrol during the following days.
The goal is to try and limit drunk, aggravated, and distracted driving.
