The Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office has announced that a Claremont, NH man has been found guilty on counts of sexual assault.
Alan W. Wirkkala was found guilty on December 5, 2019, of two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault. The first count is for an incident that happened on Hanover Street in Claremont between the years of 1985 and 1987 when the victim was between 5 and 8. The second count refers to an incident at Veterans Park between 1987 and 1991, when the victim was between the ages of 11 and 12.
Investigating the case was the Claremont Police Department.
According to the Union Leader, Wirkkala attempted to escape following the announcement of his conviction, although he did not get far. It is not yet known if he will face charges for the alleged escape attempt.
