Springfield Chief of Police Apologizes

The Springfield, VT Chief of Police has issued an apology to citizens following Thursday’s snowstorm.

Mark Fountain states that the snowstorm began around 3 AM, but the on-duty police supervisor failed to page the dispatcher page highway employees about road conditions. This led to roads not being cleaned in a timely manner, ultimately leading to school officials not being able to make a call on a delay or snow day.

He goes on to state that, “Nobody from the Springfield School District or the Springfield Highway Department is to be blamed for what happened.” Fountain finished by apologizing to citizens and bus drivers who had to drive children to school in the treacherous conditions.

The on-duty supervisor has fessed to the mistake.
