Reserved Parking for Police at Wal-Mart

The West Lebanon, New Hampshire Wal-Mart will now feature two, police-only parking spots, reports Here in Hanover.

The new spots are part of a company-wide initiative to boon ties with local law enforcement. The two spaces are set adjacent to handicap parking spots, marked with blue lights, and state, “Reserved Parking for our law enforcement partners.”

Wal-Mart spokesperson Tara Aston states that the spots can be used by both on-duty, and off-duty officers, however the main goal is so police do not need to block fire lanes when responding to emergency calls at the store. According to Lebanon Police Chief Richard Mello, the police respond to more emergency calls at the store than any other business on the 12A corridor.

Similar spots have already been set up at the Claremont and Woodsville locations.
