The sheriff of Merrimack County in New Hampshire has announced his resignation, reports WMUR.
Scott Hilliard’s resignation comes on the heels of him being found guilty of an aggravated DUI in January 2020. Hiliard was convicted and sentenced to 17 days in prison for the charge, spending only five as 12 days were suspended. He will also lose his license for 18 months, with a possible reduction to 12 if he participates in the program.
According to Hiliard, his last day will be March 31.
