Fewer Voters Turn Out in VT; Trump, Sanders Win Primary

Voting results are in from Vermont, and and two interesting stats stick out.

WMUR reports that in the 2016 Presidential Primary Election 197,012 VT citizens took the polls, but in 2020 that number shrunk to 196,698. This is a 314 vote drop.

The other major difference is the number of Vermonters who voted Democrat this year. In 2020, 157,649 people voted liberal, a 22,000 vote jump from 2016’s primary. This change correlated to a change in Republican voters as well as 39,049 conservative votes were counted, 23,000 less than before.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders won the Democratic Primary in the state, while President Trump easily won the Republican side of the vote.
