NH to Receive 25,000 New COVID-19 Rapid Testing Kits

New Hampshire is about to receive 25,000 COVID-19 rapid testing kits, reports WMUR.

According to the report, the state is set to receive 25,000 Abbott BinaxNOW rapid-antigen COVID-19 testing kits. State officials say that the tests are highly accurate while being very small in size.

Dr. Jonathan Ballard of the Department of Health and Human Services stated, “The nasal swab only goes into the tip of the nose, and it’s inserted into this card, and after 15 minutes, a line appears on the card that determines if the test is positive, and if it doesn’t appear, it’s negative.”

The tests are said to be 97% accurate when administered properly. However, the tests only work on those who have been symptomatic in the past seven days.

20 hospitals around the state are set to get the tests in approximately two weeks, as well as two National Guard drive-thru testing sites in Concord and Londonderry.
