Springfield, Vermont’s newly renovated Woolson Block apartment building is now accepting applications, according to the Vermont Journal.
Construction on the building’s renovation project began in April 2019 as part of the state of VT’s $37 million “affordable development” project. The Springfield section of the state’s housing project was sponsored by the Springfield Housing Authority, which reportedly helped raise funds for the renovation by selling tax credits, downtown, state, historic tax credits, and the Community Development Block Grant program.
The Woolson Block building will feature a 5,000-plus square foot commercial space on the ground floor, and two residential floors which will feature 15 one and two-bedroom apartments for individuals whose income is at or below 60% of the area’s median income. There will also be four single-room, “service enriched” apartments for homeless and at-risk youth citizens between the ages of 18 and 24. Heat, hot water, and trash removal will be included in the rental price of the apartments.
