A Hartford, Vermont man has been arrested and charged with Embezzlement after allegedly stealing upwards of $10,000 from the Reading Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization.
According to a press release from the VT State Police-Westminster Barracks, authorities were notified on November 6th, 2020, by an attorney representing the Reading PTO, that funds were missing from the group’s checking account.
An investigation into the claim found that the PTO’s former treasurer, 37-year-old Wade Mullins, had embezzled funds from the account from 2014 to 2020. Evidence suggests that at least $10,000 were misappropriated from the account.
Mullins was apprehended and processed on embezzlement charges on January 4th, 2021.
He was then cited to appear in Windsor County Superior Court, Criminal Division on February 23rd at 1 PM.
