Cavendish Resident Victim of Theft

A Cavendish resident’s vehicle was robbed Tuesday while they were swimming, reports a release from the Vermont State Police.

At approximately 2 PM, Catherine E Terrell, 24, of Cavendish, VT was swimming at the Gorge near Power Plant Road when other swimmers alerted her to her vehicle’s smashed driver’s side window.

Upon returning to her vehicle, she found that an unknown person had broken in, stealing her wallet carrying a Vermont ID card and other items.

Renehan Pleads Innocent

According to the Eagle Times, Oliver Renehan, the Newport man convicted on shooting charges following an incident last week, has plead innocent.

Following the shooting on July 24th, Renehan, 58, was taken into custody and charges with First Degree Assault and Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon, which are Class A and Class B felonies respectively.

On Monday, Renehan appeared in Sullivan County Superior Court and plead innocent to charges of first degree assault and first degree attempted assault with a deadly weapon. He was released on $10,000 unsecured appearance bail. On Thursday, he was arraigned and held without bail.
