VT Digger has reported that Spingfield Hospital, in Springfield, Vt, and health center offshoots are going their separate ways.
Last June, the hospital and health centers filed chapter 11 bankruptcy, and have decided that they will go forward with separate exit plans, and the organizations will now be governed by separate boards. Interim CEO Michael Halstead stated that the split was decided as the best way to continue bankruptcy proceedings. Prior to bankruptcy, Springfield Hospital funneled large sums of money down to the nine health centers and facilities under it, adding up to approximately $3 million dollars since 2017.
The organization recently requested to delay bankruptcy hearings to June 2020, due to mounting fees.
